Die akademie der autodidakten lädt Kinder von 4 bis 12 Jahren mit ihren Eltern zu fünf Kinderbuchlesungen ein, die diverse Realitäten aufzeigen und Geschichten auf die Bühne bringen,
die von Kindern „wie uns“ handeln. In Zusammenarbeit mit Audream, der mobilen antirassistischen Bibliothek und unter Leitung von Chima Ugwuoke, werden Kinderbücher präsentiert, in denen die Perspektiven, Erlebnisse und Gefühle von Schwarzen Kindern, Kindern of Color und (post)migrantischen Kindern im Mittelpunkt stehen.
In gemütlicher Atmosphäre lesen junge Schwarze Menschen und Jugendliche of Color sowie Erwachsene Geschichten vor, über die wir im Anschluss mit den Kindern sprechen. Was bedeutet es, wenn „wir“ in den vorgelesenen Geschichten vorkommen?
Das hätte auch mir passieren können! Jaaaa, das kenne ich! Das könnte meine Familie sein! Die sieht ja aus wie ich!
Hier geht es um Wiedererkennung, Repräsentation und Identifikationsmöglichkeiten. Es ist ein schönes Gefühl zu erleben, dass es Menschen gibt, die die gleichen Geschichten teilen wie wir. Denn wie viele Kinderbucher haben wir im deutschen Kontext schon gelesen, in denen wir nicht oder nur in stereotypisierten Rollen vorkamen? Zu viele! Wir präsentieren euch Bucher, in denen es in bestärkender Weise um „uns“ geht und wir so vielschichtig und verschieden gezeigt werden,
wie wir sind.
FREIHEIT & SELBSTBESTIMMUNG (6 – 10 JAHRE)
In der dritten Lesung lesen wir Geschichten von Kindern, die selbst bestimmen wollen, wer sie
sind und wie sie sind. Um diese Freiheit zu haben, behaupten sie sich gegen andere Kinder und Erwachsene, die sie einschränken wollen: Was bedeutet Freiheit? Wer oder was schränkt uns
ein, sagt uns was wir zu tun haben oder was wir nicht dürfen? Geschichten von Kindern, die selbst bestimmen, wer sie sind und wie sie sind.

Children between the ages of 4 and 12 and their parents are invited by akademie der autodidakten to attend five children’s book readings that present various realities and bring stories to the stage that deal with children “like us”. In cooperation with Audream, the mobile anti-racist library and under the direction of Chima Ugwuoke, the reading events present children’s books that focus on the perspectives, experiences and feelings of Black children, children of color and (post)migrant children.
In a comfortable environment, young Black people and teenagers of color as well as adults read stories that will then be discussed with the children. What does it mean when “we” appear in the stories we read?
That could have happened to me! Yeah, I know what that’s like! That could be my family! She looks just like me!
It’s about recognition, representation and possibilities of identification.
To experience that there are people who share the same stories as we do is a nice feeling. After all, how many children’s books in the German context have we read that didn’t represent us or only in stereotyped roles? Too many! We will introduce you to books that are about “us” in an empowering way and present us as multi-layered and diverse as we are.
FREEDOM & SELF-DETERMINATION (AGE 6-10)
In the third reading, we read stories of children who want to decide for themselves who and how they want to be. In order to have this freedom, they stand up to other children and adults who want to restrict them: What does freedom mean? Who or what restricts us, tells us what we have to do or are not allowed to do? Stories of children who decide for themselves who and how they want to be.
