Sag mal, dass wir nicht zu Hause sind

by Rashid Novaire

Actually, Aydın Bayad has every reason to rejoice. After all, the publisher chose him of all people, a yet unknown young writer, offering him the very last grant so he can write about his background.

So the novel he is planning to write about the last cutler in Greenland will just have to wait. Reluctantly, Aydın embarks on the different threads that can be spun into the history of his family. Between the old people’s home in Berlin, Kurdish mountain air and yellowed family photographs, he unexpectedly comes across things worth telling. Of all places, he finds them between piles of what was once the whitest linen in Brandenburg, stowed away at the very back of the cupboard.

The East Prussian-Kurdish director Bêrîvan Kaya and the Dutch writer Rashid Novaire present poetic historic science fiction as a musical journey on stage.۝
