Ahmed Soura

Ahmed Soura was born in Burkina Faso and lives in Germany. He graduated from the Institut National de Formation Artistique et Culturelle (INAFAC) in Burkina Faso and participated in workshops in France with Anne Marie Pascoli and dancers from Ballet de Paris and Ballet de Marseille. In 2009, he was choreography assistant to Irene Tassembedo for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Pan African Film Festival (FESPACO) in Ougadougou, Burkina Faso. In 2010 he participated in the opera Via Intolleranza II by Christoph Schlingensief and in 2012 he was part of the Opera Ballet of the Deutsche Oper Berlin in four productions. In 2011 he was awarded 3rd prize at the International Solo Dance Theater Festival in Stuttgart, and in 2013 he was awarded 2nd prize at the Need3Dance.eu competition. Since 2007 Ahmed Soura is artistic director of the ensemble KÔRO in Burkina Faso, with which he has created various own choreographies.
