Bilhan Derin

Bilhan Derin (* 1971 in Çaycuma, Turkey) is a German director and writer of short films. Her debut Ayla and the Pantyhose was nominated for Best Short Film at the Max Ophüls Festival in 2002. Derin began studying directing at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin in 1999. Her acclaimed debut was followed by Banu (2002), which screened at the Bamberg Short Film Festival, among other festivals, Der einäugige Elephant (2003) and Warten auf die Kükenzeit (2004). In 2008, he made Die Dolmetscherin (The Interpreter). Derin has also appeared as an actress in Seyhan Derin’s Untouched and in Eoin Moore’s Im Schwitzkasten (2005).
