Camille Badirou

Camille Badirou (Cami) is a French-Beninese dance artist, choreographer, and performer.

Her artistic journey began at an early age with ballet and gradually expanded into contemporary dance and various African street styles. After earning an International Master’s in Law and working in the legal field, Camille made a decisive shift to pursue her passion for dance professionally. She completed her formal training at Studio Harmonic in Paris and has since continued to deepen her practice through international travels and collaborations.

In 2023/24, Camille worked under the direction of choreographer Dalton Jansen in Rotterdam on the production BLACKBIRDS, and choreographed SPRÉI for Mílos Dance Company, performed at Théâtre Clavel in Paris in July 2023. Camille regularly participates in dance battles and won the Club Oval Dance Battle in September 2024. That year, she also created a group piece for the European Football Championship. In 2025, she performed in a contemporary circus and dance piece, titled OBJECTS IN THE SKY Her first solo piece, NA KOLONIA, conceptualized as work-in-progress is a personal and poetic reflection on (post-) colonial aftereffects and traumas. The first public showing was in 2024.

Driven by a constant search for new movement pathways, Camille is exploring how the body can become a site of reflection, resistance, and decolonial transformation. She writes poems that often enter into a dialog with her movement practice, exploring new connections between language and the body.
