Christine Umpfenbach studied stage design at the Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee and directing at Goldsmiths College London. Since 2000 she has worked as a director for theaters such as Volksbühne Berlin, Münchner Kammerspiele, Residenztheater Munich, Theater Freiburg and international festivals. The theater projects are documentary and deal with socio-politically explosive topics. In 2014, she received the Theaterförderpreis of the City of Munich. Since 2016 she has been working on the establishment of a counseling center for victims of right-wing and racist violence in Munich.
