Dodzi Dougban

Dodzi Dougban is deaf, a dancer, performer, and choreographer from Recklinghausen. He poetically integrates sign language into dance in his work, thus connecting the hearing and deaf worlds. His original passion for urban dance has given rise to new and unique forms of expression and body language.

He most recently appeared in the play Time to Shine at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus, as well as in Hell and Swan Fate by Kampnagel Hamburg and Tanzfaktur Cologne. Through his artistic projects, he develops works that highlight the diversity of our world and strengthen the rights of deaf people and culturally diverse communities.

Dodzi Dougban is certain that inclusive performances can break down prejudices in society, promote diversity, and enable social participation for all. For him, inclusive performances are an important means of breaking down social barriers, making diversity visible, and promoting social participation. Through his work, he sends a strong signal for greater equality of opportunity and barrier-free culture.
