Family Connection
Family Connection was founded in 2005 by Glenda Martinus and her sister from Curaçao. The collective works in the Black Radical tradition and addresses issues of liberation and decolonization and how they take shape in various forms.
Its members are related and share a deep respect for each other’s practices and creative views. The works are the result of constant exchange and collaborative development. Meanwhile, the collective has initiated exhibitions and performances, and their pieces have been shown nationwide: among other things, works by the collective are collected by the Dutch National Heritage Agency, and Glenda Martinus‘ works were purchased by the Van Abbemuseum after the collective exhibited there in 2019. The group has shown work on Curaçao and in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Eindhoven and in Riga.
