Golnaz Farmani
Golnaz Farmani has been immersed in the world of theater for over 20 years – from acting and directing to dramaturgy and performative writing. Born in Tehran, she studied Dramatic Literature and Theater Direction before moving to Germany. There, she completed a second Master’s degree in Scenic Research at Ruhr University Bochum, focusing on interactive and participatory performances. Her work centers on political and social reflection through theater. Golnaz examines power structures, oppression, and discrimination, questioning how these manifest in everyday life. Themes such as self-empowerment, morality, and collective energy shape her artistic practice. Golnaz develops interactive and participatory performances, blending theatrical techniques with social analysis. She also employs multilingualism to create new forms of exchange and reflection. German, her second language, is used as an artistic tool to make hierarchies visible and open up new perspectives. At Ballhaus Naunynstraße, Golnaz is involved as a dramaturge in the Extended Cooperation Vol. I workshop.
