Il Kang was born in Hamburg in 1978. After an apprenticeship at SAE Hamburg, he studied at the Hamburg University of the Arts in 2005. During this time he also took a scholarship for politics and culture in Korea. On the side he works as a service producer for Korean production companies. Seme is his graduation film. Currently he is preparing his second feature film.
