Iman Gele
Iman Gele is a choreographer, krump dancer, presenter, and activist. She is a member of the Walashé and NDA BIVINI collectives and advocates for marginalized perspectives in the dance scene.
In 2024, she was nominated for the Faust Theater Prize with an ensemble. She is currently performing with Walashé in their latest production, Traces, at the Sophiensäle Berlin and touring with the Krump piece Ich kann’s nicht lassen by Janne Gregor and the Junges Tanzhaus. Among other things, she was the artistic director of the FrühlingsLab at the Deutsches Theater this year.
As a performer and choreographer, she brings Afro-diasporic dance styles to international stages, including Tanz im August (Berlin), Malmö Dance Week, and Au-Delà Des Préjugés (Lausanne), creating spaces for community and empowerment. Her work combines community, theater, and club culture, bringing dance to life as an expression of identity, resistance, and transformation.
Am Ballhaus Naunynstraße moderiert sie das Vernetzungstreffen und das Panel Here to stay! im Rahmen des Festivals Black Berlin Black – Festivity.
