Jens Hillje was born in 1968 and grew up in Milan, Munich and Landshut. 1989-1996 studied applied cultural sciences in Perugia, Hildesheim and Berlin. 1996-99 Co-director and dramaturge of the Baracke of the Deutsches Theater. 1999-2009 Member of the Artistic Direction and Chief Dramaturg of the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz. Dramaturge for the works of Falk Richter: TRUST (Schaubühne Berlin 2009), My secret Garden (Festival d’Avignon 2010), PLAYLOUD (Théâtre National Brussels, 2011) and RAUSCH (Schauspiel Düsseldorf, 2012). Artistic director/curator for the performing arts festival INTRANSIT 2011 at HKW Berlin. Since 2010 collaboration at Ballhaus Naunynstraße in Berlin. There he produces Verrücktes Blut, directed by Nurkan Erpulat (invited to the Theatertreffen 2011). The play, written together with Nurkan Erpulat, was chosen as play of the year 2011 by Theater Heute. For the 2013/14 season, co-director and chief dramaturg at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin.
