Josephine Papke was born in Berlin. She studied film and theatre studies, and works in a variety of ways in the cultural field, predominantly in theatre, as a journalist/author as well as poet and performer. Her art often debates the intersections of queerness, BIPoC, identities and pop culture. She has written for Missy Magazine, Anne Frank Educational Centre, HKW, L-Mag, Theatertreffen Blog der Berliner Festspiele, Literary Diverse, New German Media Makers and Sisters and Souls 2, amongst others. She continuously performs  socially critical poetry on stage. At the Berlin Ringtheater she contributed to the development of the play HALT – eine feministische Performance über intersektionale Solidarität (engl.: a feminist performance about intersectional solidarity) – and was also involved on stage as a performer. At Ballhaus Naunynstraße, she participated in the dramaturgy of Jasco Viefhues‘ production Space Creators (2021) and as a director’s assistant for Abdruckkörper by Yatri Niehaus (2022).
