Katja Kinder

Katja Kinder is a Black German queer educationalist and managing director of RAA Berlin. RAA Berlin is an independent organization that works in the field of educational justice, has helped to develop the approach of diversity-oriented organizational development and invests in empowerment structures. In the various work contexts of RAA Berlin, Katja Kinder thinks critique of discrimination and diversity orientation together in order to initiate changes in her own and other organizations and institutions. To this end, she and others design various further education and training concepts on which she advises and trains civil society organizations, administration and educational policy organizations nationwide. She is able to offer this range of reflection formats based on her many years of experience in mediation and supervision in the political education of numerous organizations. Her approach to action is generated from a continuous examination of intersectional, racism-critical and gender-equitable theory and practice.

Together with Peggy Piesche and Maisha Auma, she worked in the Diversifying Matters scientific team, a specialist group of ADEFRA e.V., in cooperation with the Berlin Senate administrations to carry out the consultation process on the discrimination situation and social resilience of people of African descent in 2018. Since then, the work focus areas of reducing anti-Black racism and equality for people of African descent have been specifically developed and anchored at RAA Berlin.

She is also a co-founder of ADEFRA (Schwarze Frauen* in Deutschland), a Black queer feminist collective, and has been active there for 36 years.
