Laura Shirin is a political performer and author. In her work, she engages both academically and artistically with topics such as racism, (queer) feminism, and intersectionality. Central to her practice are pressing questions of belonging and identity, moments of empowerment and loss, as well as the search for “Haymat” and community. Her first publication appeared in the volume of poems Haymatlos; additional texts were featured in Texte nach Hanau. She has also contributed to the blog Young Migrants and the mo:no Magazin. Most recently, she was a mentor at the PROSANOVA literature festival and a performer at İÇ İÇE, the first Festival for new Anatolian music.
