Lila Oji studies literature and history and works on Afrofuturism, Black speculative fiction, Black trans identities, and queer-feminist contemporary discourses. As co-founder of the Theodor Wonja Michael Library in Cologne, Lila combines political education with literary practice and organizes formats on Black and Afro-diasporic literature, including as part of Black History Month, as well as through readings, discussion series, and her own lectures. In seminars and workshops, Lila opens up spaces for intersectional perspectives of Black authors beyond Eurocentric canons and narrative traditions. Since 2025, Lila has been curating a queer-feminist reading circle. The focus is on how reading queer-feminist BIPoC literature can enable collective healing and resistant imagination. Literature is understood as a practice of care, as a space of memory, community, and compassion.

At Ballhaus Naunynstraße, Lila contributes her knowledge, experience, and visions to the panel discussion Festivity of imaginations – zwischen Afrofuturism und Black Horror, the fifth installment of the discussion series Widerständiges Feiern curated by Fabienne Mahwane for the festival Black Berlin Black – Festivity.
