Melanie Pruvost was born in Lille, France. She started taking dance classes at an early age and was a member of the „Avant-Scène Dance School“ in Lille until 1997. She experimented with different directions such as funk, afro, modern and acro dance. In 2001 she joined Le Fil d’Ariane, an experimental choreography group of the University of Paris VI with which she participated in many university festivals, such as Dance a Jussieu, Estudanse and Festival de Nanterre. In the same year, Melanie founded a contemporary dance and choreographic studies group, Dancité Paris. In October 2005, she completed her PhD in archaeology on the analysis of ancient cattle DNA at the Jacques Monod Institute in Paris. She is a founding member of the contemporary dance group Didanscalie in Paris. In 2006 she moved to Berlin and began research on paleontology at the German Archaeological Institute. She has been a member of Grupo Oito since 2007.
