Miriam Kuna Schade is a trained seamstress and will be completing her bachelor’s degree in fashion design at Berlin University of the Arts in the summer semester of 2024.
In her collections, she mainly deals with the definition of identities and femininity. In doing so, she refers to bipolar women and their experiences in the environment of a white dominant society. Based on this perspective, she finds forms of expression that challenge normative social forms and structures.
Miriam’s aim is to create a space for exchange and integrity through collaboration.
Since March 2021 she has been working as a tutor in the faculty’s weaving workshop at the UdK. Miriam likes to experiment with different materials and use different craft techniques in her work as a designer. Ballhaus Naunynstraße gave Miriam her first opportunity to work as a costume designer – she is responsible for the costume of the performance Eventually Causing the Shake (2023).
