Niels Bovri

Niels Bovri was born in Belgium. At the age of 19 he went to the Rits College in Brussels to study audiovisual arts and radio. After realizing that this was not his fulfillment, he put himself into practice as a stage technician in Antwerp. Via rock n‘ roll stages and catwalks for fashion designers (Tim van Steenberghe, Dries Van Noten) he comes to the Vlaamse opera in Antwerp and Ghent. In July 2003 he decides to take a master’s course in stage design at the Frank Mohr Institute in Groningen (Netherlands) with a focus on technique vs. performance. In August 2004 he meets the Berlin theater ensemble Nico and the Navigators. Since then he has been working in Berlin as a freelance performer and installation artist. Besides his own projects he also works for Urban Lies, Opera dynamo West and Theatre de chambre (France), among others.
At Ballhaus Naunynstraße he designed the stage set for Funk is not dead! directed by Idil Üner.
