Pegah Ferydoni was born in Tehran, Iran. She became known through the ARD pre-evening series Türkisch für Anfänger. In 2006, she won the Grimme Prize in the entertainment category with this series. Since the age of 17, she has appeared in numerous German television productions such as Soko München, Tatort, Der Kriminalist and Großstadtrevier. In the cinema, she was in the productions Peer Gynt, A Day of Life, Zweiohrküken, among others. In 2006 she appeared in the production Schwarze Jungfrauen by Feridun Zaimoğlu & Günter Senkel (directed by Neco Çelik) at Hebbel am Ufer. She is also the singer and frontwoman of the band Shanghai Electric, founded in 2002. In 2009, the film Woman wihout Men by Shirin Neshat won the Silver Lion in Venice, in which Pegah Ferydoni played one of the leading roles.
