Popo Fan
Popo Fan is a filmmaker, activist, and film festival organizer (Beijing Queer Film Festival). He studied at Beijing Film Academy and is the author of Happy Together: Complete Record of a Hundred Queer Films, the first book on this genre in the PRC. His documentaries include topics such as transgender and feminism. The trilogy Chinese Closet, Mama Rainbow, Papa Rainbow, had a strong impact on the reception of LGBTQ families in China. After Mama Rainbow was clicked a million times on the Internet, it was banned from the internet. Fan sued in court and won such a case for the first time. In 2011, he was awarded the Hong Kong Prism Award for his work as a whole. Among other things, he participated in the 2017 Berlinale Talents.
