Silvina Der-Meguerditchian

Silvina Der-Meguerditchian grew up in Argentina as the granddaughter of Armenian grandparents and now works as a visual artist in Berlin. In her work, the memory of the expulsion and disappearance of Armenians from their homeland repeatedly becomes the subject of artistic exploration. The focus is always on the actual process of connecting and dissolving, the construction and deconstruction of identity. Her most important exhibitions include Urban Realities – Fokus Istanbul (Berlin, Martin-Gropiusbau, 2005), Reality Crossing (Fotofestival Mannheim / Ludwigshafen / Heidelberg, 2007) and her solo show Die Textur der Identität (Centro Cultural Recoleta, Buenos Aires, 2004). In 2005 she founded the virtual dialogue platform for contemporary Armenian artists www.underconstructionhome.net. In 2007 she curated the first off-representation of the Armenian Diaspora during the 52nd Venice Biennale.
