Stefan Demming followed his studies of art and history with studies of free art under Jean-François Guiton at the Atelier für Zeitmedien at the HfK Bremen. Since 2007 he has been working as a freelance artist in the field of video and installation in Berlin. His work currently focuses on audiovisual compositions and choreographies. He collaborates with musicians and performers, but also his own installations are based on an experience of the audience in space and time. In 2000 Demming received the video installation prize of the city of Marl for Nightmares. Other prizes and grants followed, including the Bremen Förderpreis für Bildende Kunst for Notaki #4 (2001), the OLB Media Art Prize European Media Art Festival for Frau am Boden (2002), and a DAAD travel grant to the U.S. for The Greatest Show on Earth (2007).
