The String Archestra
The String Archestra was founded in 2016 by Dr. Daniele G. Daude to promote works by Black, Indigenous, and PoC composers who have been made invisible in the concert repertoire and canonical classical music history. In 2021, The String Archestra won the TONALi Award in the “Umbruch” category and performed at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. The String Archestra collaborates with a variety of composers, including Ayanna Witter-Johnson (Apollo Prize 2011), Anthony R. Green (Founder Castle of Our Skin), Jessie Montgomery (Grammy 2024), Craig Harris (Sun Ra and The Arkestra), MARIAMA, Shannon Sea, Shelly Phillip, Yudania Gomez Heredia, Philo Tsoungui, and songwriters Neneh Boye, King Josephine, Diana Ezerex, and Julie.
For the Black Berlin Black – Festivity festival at Ballhaus Naunynstraße, they are collaborating with composers and singers Gonza & Bona Ngoumou, presenting their songs together in a concert evening.
