Wan Yuk Yu is an actress and theatre artist born in Hong Kong, with a focus on community arts and documentary theatre. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2008 and a Master’s degree in Applied Theatre at Mozarteum University Salzburg in 2023.
Throughout her career, Yuk Yu has worked in various fields, including acting, singing, puppetry, voice acting, directing, and playwriting and received awards for her performances in Blasted (2013) and Der Goldene Drache (2017).
In 2021, Yuk Yu moved from Hong Kong due to political reasons. In 2023, she premiered her Master’s project, The Bustling Whisper, a documentary piece about the experiences of the Hong Kong diaspora following the 2019 Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Movement. She continues to develop this project, reflecting on themes of displacement and the impact of political change. At Ballhaus Naunynstraße, Yuk Yu can be seen in the showings of the Extended Cooperation Vol. I workshop.
