Professor Wendy Sutherland teaches German language and literature at New College of Florida in Sarasota. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Her research focuses on the role of Black people in 18th century bourgeois drama in Germany and its connection to the transatlantic slave trade.
In 2015, her latest book, Staging Blackness and Performing Whiteness in 18th Century German Drama was released.
