Paneldiskussion: Wissenstransfer zwischen Kunst und Akademie: Zum Verhältnis von postmigrantischer Kultur-und akademischer Wissensproduktion

Over the past ten years, the protagonists of post-migrant theatre have successfully established and institutionalised artists of colour within the German theatre scene. However, German universities and art colleges have so far failed to successfully implement post-migrant perspectives or to employ academics of colour in leading positions. This becomes apparent in the controversy concerning „Black Studies“ at the University of Bremen just as much as in the fact that professorships at art colleges are exclusively staffed with white academics, although a young generation of artists of colour is also being trained there. Moreover, post-migrant theatre is often still analysed from a perspective of migration sociology instead of a theatre and cultural science perspective.

In the first panel discussion in our anniversary series, experts from academic disciplines and artists from the post-migrant theatre movement will be pursuing questions such as the following: What can science learn from art? What can art learn from science? What methods, strategies, possibilities of intervention and negotiation are available to artists and academics of colour and what can they learn from the successful institutionalisation of post-migrant theatre?

The event aims to develop common strategies and recommendations addressing the transfer of knowledge between the theatre and academia and dealing with the academic processing of post-migrant theatre and the works of artists of colour.
