Black Berlin Black – Widerstand

AUFLADEN

Workshop led by Maureen Maisha Auma and Eben Louw

Resistance needs power, costs power. The grand gesture, the intervention on the political or artistic stage, needs energy. But also everyday life, yes, especially everyday life requires energy: everyday racism demands permanent attention, self-protection, self-hardening. Torn between being exposed and being overlooked, the ego struggles for balance. Structural discrimination as an environment and threat is a permanent burden. Chronic illnesses, depression, immune deficiencies are recognized consequences of stress. How do we protect ourselves? What spaces do we need? What cultural practices do we shape for ourselves?

This confidential discussion aims to promote mutual support within Berlin’s diverse Black community and encourages intergenerational exchange. The focus will be on knowledge and ways to nurture and grow our own as well as collective energies.
