Cruising in High Heels

A FILM BY SIMON J. PAETAU

Cruising in High Heels is a film about two apocalyptic sissies between Bogotà, Berlin and Cartagena. One of them is a dancer, the other a filmmaker. The film begins as a documentary about a dancer and then gradually turns into a dance with the camera. The performances they create together play with the in-between, the male-female and the appropriation of spaces and expectations projected onto them. Jair says to Simon: “Look, my friend Victoria Beckham, when she has a cold she puts on her high heels, applies makeup, looks fantastic and her flu is gone! That’s really reaching a level of self-awareness when you can defeat a cold with lipstick and high heels!”
Followed by a panel discussion with sociologist Kaciano Gadelha, director Simon J. Paetau and the leading actor Jair Luna.
