Shortly after the voluntary disclosure of the NSU (National Socialist Underground) in November 2011, the shock in light of the unobstructed killing was profound ‒ and so was the willingness declared by politicians and the media to deal with the issue. So what has actually happened since then? We have already returned to business as usual. Since the ongoing criminal trial in Munich began, it seems as if the issue has been ‘settled’. A year after the court proceedings started, the anti-racism organisation Bündnis gegen Rassismus and Allmende e.V. take stock ‒ in an evening of discussion with people looking at the events from different perspectives: What has been the outcome of the trial and the analysis of the NSU so far? Is institutional racism being dealt with or is it, on the contrary, perpetuated in the court room? Does the trial contribute to a better understanding of the racism in society the NSU could build on? How much has already been clarified and what still needs to be brought to light ‒ and how?
