Right-wing forces are gaining political ground in Germany. Their influence on cultural budgets is foreseeable. At the same time we are witnessing an increase of right-wing attacks on cultural events.

The arts in Germany are coming under pressure. So what do we do now in terms of cultural policy? What expectations must be set for the arts, art institutions and politics regarding democratic values such as equality, freedom, respect for human dignity, and possibilities of participation?

This is a task politicians and political parties, district, federal and national councils, as well as cultural institutions and cultural producers alike must tackle. With the discussion series Gegen Rechts: die Kunst, politisch Stellung zu beziehen (Against the right: the art of taking a political stand), Ballhaus Naunynstraße brings together protagonists form arts and culture, politics, and society, in order to develop possibilities and strategies against the political influence from the right and a monopolisation of culture.
