AFTER THE LAST SKY Ausstellung Film

The video work Homecoming Queenz is the documentation of a performance Elias Wakeem did together with a friend on their way back from Stockholm to Tel Aviv. The main questions they raise as Drag Queens: When we cross-gender from a place of awareness and choice, how is it perceived in a public area, both for the people around and for officials. Choosing one identity and mixing it with another to create a totally new one, is that what makes us visible? In real life what are the challenges we will have to deal with and is it even questionable in a heteronormative world to cross-gender? What kind of treatment will we get in a place that pretends to be democratic and LGBTQI supporter? The two protagonists filmed each other with their mobiles from when they started dressing up until they left the Airport. In ten minutes the video work shows all sides of reality hitting the protagonists while they hit it back to the extreme through performance in real life.
