Intensiv erleben - Menschen in klinischen Grenzsituationen

Lesung mit Tuğsal Moğul und Prof. Dr. Alfred Simon

Reading with Tuğsal Moğul and Prof. Dr. Alfred Simon

Tuğsal Moğul ‒ theatre maker and anaesthetist ‒ and the medical ethicist Prof. Dr. Alfred Simon read from their book Intensiv erleben ‒ Menschen in klinischen Grenzsituationen (Intensive Experience People in Clinical Borderline Situations).

In 2015 Ballhaus Naunynstraße presented Moğul’s ensemble Theater Operation with the production Halbstarke Halbgötter, which was about doctors close to their breaking point. In 2013 Tuğsal Moğul developed Das Summen der Montagswürmer for Ballhaus, a play about clinical operations as an enterprise, a family’s story, an operating facility and a place to die. In this way he introduced palliative care to the theatre’s repertoire.

In 2011 Moğul’s Theater Operation and Alfred Simon hosted the interdisciplinary festival Der Traum der Medizin, which they later turned into a book. Reading from this book, Moğul and Simon talk about living and dying with high-tech medicine ‒ seen through the eyes of the philosopher, the doctor, and the playwright.
