Katibeh5
Konzert
Among the first Hip Hop groups to start the underground scene in Beirut nearly 10 years ago, Katibeh5 continues to break the barrier of silence with evocative lyrics that speak to the realities of Palestinian struggles in the diaspora. Their songs have become a way of expression for the youth in the camps especially in Burj el Barajneh camp (where the group formed) and a show of defiance to suffering and injustice. Being ‚Other’ed under oppressive systems, Katibe5 have used Hip hop and lyricism to own and voice their own identities to battle and break these boxes which have forcefully other’ed them.
Katibeh5 has produced 4 albums in addition to numerous collaborations with various Arab Hip Hop artists.
On Saturday, 1 October at 7 pm Majd Al-Shihabi (storyteller/ podcast maker, Berlin) will host a discussion with Katibeh5 and the musician Marwan Abado about their art and lives.
