What does it mean to be a father or to become one? Do we even want to be a father or become one? If so, why, and what do we want to pass on to our children? What happens when fathers are not present? How do we imagine their absence? What role does our own father play in our lives and where are the differences and similarities? Do we have to become like our fathers? Do father figures exist? And finally: how do families without fathers function?
Young post-migrants who are still very much underrepresented in mainstream media follow up on these questions in Kiez-Monatsschau Vol. XX and take to the floor themselves. Flanked by mentors Tanja Bubbel and Philipp Khabo Koepsell and armed with cameras and microphones, they focus on the topic “fathers”.
