Beauty. There are definitely more important things. Nonetheless, when most of us look in the mirror every day we ask ourselves, “How do I look?” The image of beauty is linked to social conditions, culture and many other aspects; the way it is perceived is constantly changing with time. So there is no homogeneous ideal of beauty. Our appearance represents us to the outside world, it determines how we appear to others, is an expression of a philosophy of life and a statement of style. A complete industry is concerned with marketing beauty and promises of beauty. Equipped with cameras and microphones and moving from beauty salon to body modification studio, the protagonists of the 26th issue of Kiez-Monatsschau and their mentors İlker Abay and Hüseyin Kaya Yıldız seek to examine one of the fundamental questions of our time: How do I look?
