Klassentreffen - Die 2. Generation
What stories can be told about the real lives of migrants that go beyond the worn-out integration debates and stereotyped musings on identity and belonging, and how can they be brought to the stage? On the basis of conversations and interviews with six German-Turks from Berlin, a collage of biographical sketches emerges with moments of real Turkish German lives in Berlin, as vivid, funny and moving as they are undeniably authentic.
Emel Abidin-Algan, Tuna Başgerdan, Dilek Bölükgiray, Hülya Duyar, Özcan Mutlu and Ünal Yüksel are six German Turks who have „made it“ ‒ both the springboard and the conclusion of Klassentreffen. But as we learn in the course of the evening, the concept of „making it“ is far more than the career term we may have initially have thought of. Their real achievement is to have successfully reconciled opposites, to have experienced the good and the bad sides of two different worlds, and to have found their own way between them.
