Liga der Verdammten

A play generated by İmran Ayata and Neco Çelik

In or out? That’s the eternal question when yet again the impartial referee didn’t see the ball properly. Sometimes the Beautiful Game can really drive you insane.

Unless of course you are a fan of Türkiyemspor and always stay focused on what is essential. For the last 35 years, left-footers willing to integrate, club officials sick of commerce, parents keen on mass sports, politicians hot for community, radical feminist football haters, nitpicking liquidators and last but not least highly gifted artists with the ball romp about on Kreuzberg’s turf and keep asking themselves over and over: torments of heaven or hell’s delight?

Based on interviews and conversations with legends, neighbourhood champions and totally unknown heroines and heroes from three generations of Türkiyemspor, the playmakers İmran Ayata (author) and Neco Çelik (director) enter a minefield and ‒ with bleeding hearts but dead sure curiosity, shaking their heads and filled with enthusiasm ‒ take a look behind the scenes of a legendary German football club and beyond.

Sometimes you win although you have lost. (Arda, talent of the century)

It’s so cool that people just don’t get it that the real shit isn’t football but the whole shebang around it. (Giuseppe, jabber-box)
