Neda is on a quest – like many of us, who, in their search, found their way to Berlin and continue their quest in this city. How does one shape one’s own identity as a woman just shy of thirty? How does one restore one’s identity in a fragmented society?
Neda seeks the future, but perhaps first she seeks a tranquillity that is hers in the present. It’s difficult to find meaning in one’s work when commerce alone dictates the goals, and thus also the behaviours and roles. It’s challenging to find security and closeness when patriarchal patterns dominate society. Neda walks through Berlin. Sometimes one fears she might dissolve. Then she’s concrete again, quick-witted. Who doesn’t know this feeling of Neda’s?
AVA Irandoost is a musician and filmmaker; her films are characterized by her unique rhythm, a specific blend of poetry and political clarity. NEDA, created as the first part of a trilogy, has been invited to numerous film festivals since 2017, including the Sose International Film Festival 2018, the Valletta Film Festival, and the Achtung Berlin Film Festival 2018. In 2018, it received the „Special Mention Award“ at the Aegean Film Festival.
