Plantation Memories - Episodes of Everyday Racism

Staged reading in English by Grada Kilomba

Grada Kilomba’s celebrated book Plantation Memories. Episodes of Everyday Racism has exposed the violence and trauma of racism through its incisive language and profound writing. Now the book will be staged. This staged reading is a compilation of episodes exploring everyday racism in the form of short psychoanalytical stories. It offers a strong and moving insight into the experience of racism, alienation, transformation, and empowerment through the different characters.

Last year Grada Kilomba was awarded as one of the „Most Inspiring Black Women in Europe“, due to her writings and performative readings. She has been working in several theatre projects, as well as in the writing and direction of staged readings based in London, Oslo and Berlin. Currently Grada Kilomba is a professor for gender studies at the Humboldt University, Berlin.
