SEME - SCHLAGE NICHT, UM ZU GEWINNEN. GEWINNE, DANN SCHLAGE
BUSY BODIES – ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL BERLIN 2017
Kendo, the modern Japanese martial art, is the focus of Taejon´s life. When he carries the sword Taejon is concentrated and feels self-assured. But after taking off his gear he is immediately faced with everyday life. Since his mother passed away, he has to help his father in their small restaurant. He and his father have stopped talking to each other. Underneath the silence there is tension and Taejon knows that he has challenges to face, just like in a Kendo fight. “Seme” is Il Kang’s first feature and his diploma-film for the “Hochschule für Bildende Künste”(HfbK), Hamburg. “Seme” received the Max Ophüls Interfilmpreis 2014, and the Hfbk Film Award of the Hamburg Culture Foundation, 2013.
