What happens to people who are no longer useful to today’s society?

In this performance the dance collective Grupo Oito tackles the global phenomenon of trash mountains. In a collage of theatre, dance, edited texts and film the group also examines the way society deals with people it has “disposed” of. The point of departure is the story of Estamira who spent over 20 years in the trash city of Jardim Gramacho where eight tons of trash (solely from Rio de Janeiro) were dumped every day.

The philosophy she has developed, which offers a different perspective of the world, is applied by Grupo Oito to our present-day environments with performative means.
