Black Movement perspectives in words, images, and sound

The essays, biographical narratives, analytical texts and interviews of the anthology Spiegelblicke provide an insight into the past 30 years of the movement’s history and the life of Black people in Germany. More than 50 authors, contemporary witnesses, and portrayed persons describe and analyse their political confrontation and interrogation of racist structures, documenting stations of orientation, of resistance and empowerment. The experiences described range from the Nazi era to the post-colonial present.

On the basis of selected texts, read and contextualized by contributing authors and editors, the audience is provided with a many-faceted view of the versatile edited volume.

The reading is accompanied by the music of “Three Women”.

Following the reading there will be time and space for a conversation with the participating editors and authors.
