Tea crazy patriarchs, almond-eyed imported bridegrooms, batter-happy machos, diligent welfare recipients, hotspurs scratching their nuts… We’ve been talking about these descendents of a parallel society for half a century: Turkish men. They don’t have any problems. They are the problem. This country can offer more surveys about them than there are minarets in Anatolia. Now they are finally having their say: Berlin Süpermen from three generations; who worship Buddha; have plans to become the president of Turkey at only 14; lose their sons to Islamist fundamentalists; take 40 years to finally give their wives flowers… With much ado this play interconnects their stories alternating between abysmal pain and a euphoric love of life.
