And then I jumped on the table… screamed at his misogyny… put my shades on… and walked out of the train. ‒

Snippets from real life acts of resistance against racism, sexism and other -isms. Do you remember your last act of resistance? In the film workshop Kiez-Monatsschau TOYS memories of resistance are collected – some of them funny, vulnerable, sad ‒ but in any case empowering stories of decolonizing everyday life.

They wonder what happens when everyday resistance becomes a game? When we playfully resist in a racist and restrictive society and turn moments of discrimination into moments of empowerment? When we use elements of play to survive and process experiences? What are we playing with in such moments? What are the figures, objects and heroes/heroines that are important then? What are the things that become fun and empowering toys? And what should we be playing with in the future? What kind of figures should be in tomorrow’s games that give us strength in moments of resistance?
