Filiz Sızanlı was born in Eskişehir/Turkey and lives and works as a choreographer in Istanbul. After graduating from Istanbul Technical University in 1997 with a degree in architecture, she participated in various projects at the Theatre Research Laboratory (TAL) of Istanbul State Theatre. Later she performed on stage for artists such as Mathilde Monnier, Emmanuelle Huynh. In 2001 she received a scholarship from the Cultural Commissioner of France for a training program at the Centre National Choreographique de Montpellier. In the same year she realized her first independent work Üç Ayak together with Mustafa Kaplan at the Zurich Theater Spektakel. This was followed in 2003 by Sek Sek at the Centre National de la Danse (CND) in Paris, where she was a co-producer. She appeared in front of her audience with her first solo piece Solum in 2005. In 2007, together with Mustafa Kaplan, she choreographed the piece Graf for the Montpellier Dance Festival. She is one of the co-founders of Taldans Company and Çatı Studio-Association. Currently, her latest production Dokuman, which she produced together with Mustafa Kaplan, is touring Europe.
