Iury S. Trojaborg was born in 1979 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He received his Bachelor degree in Acting in 2009 from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO). After receiving a scholarship from Erasmus Mundus, Iury concluded his Masters in Performing Arts Studies at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) and at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). Influenced by the concept of Post-Dramatic Theatre, Iury is an artist interested in building dialogues between different art forms, such as Theatre, Performance, Literature, Dance, Visual Arts and Opera.
As a dramaturg he worked in 2013 for the staging of „Parsifal“, by Richard Wagner, a co-production between the Danish company Hotel Pro Forma and the Wielki Teatr in Poznan, Poland. From 2013 to 2015 Iury was granted a scholarship for the Mentoring Program at the Performing Arts Program Berlin. Since 2014 Iury has worked as dramaturg in various productions at Ballhaus Naunynstraße, such as Simon(e) J. Paetau’s „Gritty Glamour“ and Kostis Kallivretakis` “Die Dunkelkammer” among others. In 2015 Iury received a scholarship by the Goethe Institut/Berliner Festspiele to take part at the International Forum of the 52nd Berliner Theatertreffen. As a performer and co-director, Iury premiered in 2016 “Frutas Afrodisíacas”, a co-production between Studio Я from the Maxim Gorki Theater and Ballhaus Naunynstrasse.
