Kathleen Kunath

Kathleen Kunath lives and works as a photographer and video artist in Berlin. She is interested in the relationship between the world and the image and in rethinking forms of interpretation.
She studied Gender Studies at the HU-Berlin and Photography at the Folkwang Universität der Künste. During this time, she spent two semesters abroad in the field of fine arts at the University of São Paulo, Brazil (USP). She also moved there after her studies (2012-2017).
Since 2009, she has regularly documented stage plays on photo and video for the dance and theater scene (e.g. Unrestricted Contact by Grupo Oito at Ballhaus Naunynstraße). In 2013 she worked as a video artist for the play KUBIK / BESUCH at Theater im Pumpenhaus Münster with büro für Zeit + raum / Anne Hirth, Ralf Haarmann, Irena Tomažin. She also worked as a video artist as part of Interkultur Ruhr, in 2017 for Ruhrgebiet Jetzt by Gigo Propaganda, and was involved as a consultant and editing supervisor in the project FILMBUDEN am Tag der Trinkhallen (2018, concept: Johanna-Yasirra Kluhs), which deals with private film recordings from 1940 to 1990.
At Ballhaus Naunynstraße she took part in Cyclops (2019) by Zé de Paiva.
