ALLTÄGLICH WIDERSPENSTIG

Reading curated by Chima Ugwuoke

Reading: 11.11.2019, 8 pm

Rebelliousness becomes necessary on a daily basis wherever the cry for resistance is omnipresent.

Whether spoken, written or visualized – rising to speak and making one’s own story visible is an act of resistance. The accounts Black authors and authors of color produce are as complex and multi-layered as their experiences. They encounter a reluctance to take their perspectives seriously, and with it grow resilience, rebelliousness.

Our presence as Black writers and writers of color – on stage, in the literary world, in universities – is an expression and part of our daily resistance.

In this second edition of readings as part of the festival Postcolonial Poly Perspectives, Chima Ugwuoke presents the impressive and soulful Black authors and authors of color Lahya S. Aukongo, Pasquale Virginie Rotter and To Doan.

They poetize and write rebelliously: about love and mindfulness, about struggle and connectedness, about shame and trauma, care and self-care, and intersectional dreams.

This feels rebellious for some who only know or want to know the white, binary, hetero and otherwise violent normative world. We recognize it as an opportunity for healing.

Using text, sound, image and movement, we invite you to an evening that shows us the power of our rebelliousness.
