By Eckart Seilacher, based on The Trojan Women by Euripides

Based on Euripides play The Trojan Women, director Manuela Naso and her cast take a look at the Mediterranean Sea as the mass grave of recent history.

Four women leave everything behind they love and care for, get onto an overloaded refugee boat and are rescued from the sea half dead. They dance, sing and tell us strange dark stories of eros, violence and endless Odysseys, while in secret they begin to build a new giant Trojan horse with which to break through the walls of Europe.

The Mediterranean Sea is one of the biggest mass graves in recent history. A new war is being fought: the war against illegal immigration in the Mediterranean. Between the poles of ancient history and modern times Departure from Troja talks about stagnation, war, conflict as well as budding hope.
